Customers can pay for purchases with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin. According to Aron, the company will add Dogecoin support in the future.
AMC Theatres is one of the largest cinema chains in the United States and Europe. It owns more than 950 theatres and 10,500 screens worldwide. It also operates its own online cinema.
The company announced the sale of tickets for Bitcoin as early as August, and in September promised to add support for Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.
Later, Aron asked Twitter followers whether the company should integrate Dogecoin. More than 68% of poll participants voiced support. Two weeks later, AMC allowed to use the asset to pay for digital gift cards.
In October, the head of the company conducted a similar poll regarding Shiba Inu. The poll attracted more than 153,000 participants — over 81% of respondents supported the idea.
AMC Theatres is not the only cinema chain offering customers the option to pay with cryptocurrency. Regal Cinemas provides this through the Flexa payment app.
