Analysts record drop in ChatGPT traffic.
Global traffic to the ChatGPT chatbot fell 3.2% in August, to 1.43 billion visits. Data from analytics firm Similarweb show.
Time spent on the site fell from 8.7 to 7 minutes. At the same time, users in the United States began to show more interest in the chatbot — visits in August rose by 0.4%.
According to senior Similarweb analyst David F. Carr, the fluctuations may be tied to the summer holidays:
“Students who need help with homework apparently are part of this story: the share of young website users over the summer declined and is now starting to return to normal.”
Thus, in the 18 to 24-year-old age group, traffic fell in May by 10%, in June by 15%, and in July by 4%. At its peak in April, such users accounted for 30% of the total audience share in the United States.
In July, the developers released a new plugin for the paid version of the chatbot, which can analyze data, generate code in Python, build charts and solve mathematical problems. Neural networks managed to debunk the ‘Flat Earth’ theory.
Later, OpenAI introduced the ChatGPT app for Android and announced the launch of a faster, safer and more powerful version of the chatbot for enterprise clients.
