Base Network Boosts Speed Tenfold with Flashblocks Update
The Layer 2 network Base has implemented the Flashblocks update, reducing block creation time from two seconds to 200 milliseconds.
Base is now 10x faster
Flashblocks are live on Base, speeding up effective block times from 2 seconds to 200 milliseconds and making it the fastest EVM chain today

“From click to confirmation in a moment,” commented the project team on the transaction speed.
The technology was developed in partnership with Flashbots and has been tested on the Sepolia network since February.
With this acceleration, Base can now compete with other Layer 2 networks like Arbitrum, where block time is around two seconds.
Developers believe this will open opportunities for high-frequency trading, on-chain gaming, and rapid social interactions in the new Base App.
According to The Block, Base leads in daily active users among Ethereum rollups.
The project ranks sixth among networks in the DeFi ecosystem by TVL.

Base reaches a peak of 1267 TPS with a theoretical limit of 1429 TPS. In comparison, Solana’s figures are 2909 TPS and 65,000 TPS, according to Chainspect.

At the time of writing, Base records 111.3 TPS, while the “people’s cryptocurrency” logs 1280 TPS.
Back in May, the Coinbase-backed network recorded nearly 1000 transactions per second.
