
Bitcoin enthusiast to lead Wyoming state policy

Known by the nickname “Crypto Cowboy,” Tyler Lindholm is the cofounder of BeefChain, a blockchain-based food-supply company.
As co-chair of Wyoming’s Blockchain Task Force, Lindholm promoted cryptocurrency bills to spur related business in the state. Among them was a bill to exempt blockchain tokens from securities laws.
Following the passage of this initiative, the Kraken exchange received a license in the state to create the country’s first crypto bank, and the Cardano project developer IOHK opened a blockchain laboratory at the local university.
Lindholm will take up his duties on January 3, 2021. He will report to Cynthia Lummis, who has repeatedly asserted the supremacy of bitcoin over fiat. She first invested in a crypto asset in 2013, when bitcoin traded at just over $300.
Earlier in November, the first woman to represent Wyoming in the United States Senate. The politician has already stated her intention to move the discussion of the first cryptocurrency to the national level.
In December, a bill was introduced in the US Congress requiring stablecoin issuers to obtain banking licenses and regulatory approval. Tyler Lindholm, then a member of Wyoming’s delegation to the House of Representatives, said that the bill runs counter to the fundamental principle of decentralization.
