The cryptocurrency broker Voyager Digital has added the CEO of Bitfury Group and the former CEO of Binance.US, Brian Brooks, to its board of directors.
Brooks served as chief financial officer under the Trump administration from May 2020 to January 2021. He also served as Chief Legal Officer at Coinbase from 2018 to 2020.
In April 2021 Binance.US hired Brooks as CEO, but in July he left the company, citing ‘different views on the strategic direction of development’.
“Brooks’s extensive experience as a leader of large crypto companies and as a driver of important state regulatory initiatives will help spur the growth of digital assets and Voyager’s business,” said Voyager chairman Philip Eytan.
Earlier in October Voyager Digital raised $75 million from venture firm Alameda Research of Sam Bankman-Fried. The deal will enable the broker to expand its rewards programme.
