Brian Brooks announces fivefold expansion of Binance US workforce
The US arm of the crypto exchange Binance will quintuple its staff over the next 18 months. Binance US chief executive Brian Brooks said this at the Ethereal Summit.
He said the company would hire 75–100 people in the next six months, doubling the headcount. Over 18 months, the staff will grow fivefold.
“I think it is quite obvious that Binance is the fastest-growing exchange in the United States,” he noted.
In Brooks’s view, Bitcoin exchanges are a ‘springboard’ into the world of digital assets. When cryptocurrencies become more popular, the need for such trading platforms will disappear, the head of Binance US said.
Brooks previously served as chief legal officer at Coinbase. In the summer of 2020, Donald Trump appointed him head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency within the U.S. Treasury.
In early 2021 Brooks resigned. In April he took over the US subsidiary of Binance.
In May, the oldest European crypto exchange Bitstamp reported growth in U.S. users and announced an upcoming expansion into the American market.
