Canada approves Ethereum-based ETF from 3iQ Corp and CoinShares

Asset manager 3iQ Corp announced the launch of the 3iQ CoinShares Ether ETF — an exchange-traded fund based on Ethereum.

The instrument’s listing took place on April 23 on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). It trades in Canadian dollars under the ticker ETHQ and​​ in U.S. dollars under the ticker ETHQ.U.

On April 19, Canadian regulators approved the launch of the 3iQ CoinShares Bitcoin ETF.

On April 16, Purpose Investments, CI Global Asset Management and Evolve Funds launched the world’s first Ethereum-based ETFs. On April 20 began trading on TSX.

Earlier, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission began reviewing applications from VanEck, WisdomTree and Kryptoin to launch a bitcoin ETF.

In addition, applications to launch a gold-backed exchange-traded fund were filed by NYDIG, Bitwise, Valkyrie Digital Assets, Kryptoin, SkyBridge Capital with First Trust Advisors, Fidelity Investments and Galaxy Digital.

Earlier, Brazil registered the first exchange-traded fund in Latin America based on the first cryptocurrency.
