ChatGPT-generated token logs $14 million in 24 hours on Uniswap
A programmer integrated the OpenAI API with his own script to automatically create tokens via ChatGPT. In the first day, the trading volume of the meme coin AstroPepeX (APX) reached $14 million on Uniswap.
It’s time to let GPT takeover.
I just ran the script, & it created:

In a thread on the X social platform, user CroissantEth published code that, according to him, allows AI tools to deploy tokens of the ERC-20 standard.
The idea arose from a desire to test OpenAI’s ChatGPT capabilities in conjunction with Ethereum smart contracts, he explained. Since the chatbot cannot deploy coins directly, the programmer used API integration in his own application.
This allowed a scenario to prompt and instruct ChatGPT to create a token, and the script facilitates automatic deployment of the asset, using the OpenZeppelin standards.
The chatbot generates Solidity code and defines token parameters such as the name and circulating supply. To create the name, ChatGPT uses real data from the 10,000 largest coins traded on Uniswap, comparing them with market capitalisation according to CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko.
CroissantEth arrived at this solution after ChatGPT initially generated names that seemed unsuccessful, such as FluffyUnicorn Coin.
After integrating the data, the chatbot evidently ‘began to understand crypto culture better’, the developer noted. In testing, coins such as Inuverse and QuantumPepe were launched — obvious references to the popular meme coin Pepe and metaverses.
By inserting this data into the prompts for generation, results were instantaneously better.
GPT-4 evidently had a much better understanding of crypto culture while also offering its own creativity in responses.
Here’s a look at a few testnet runs:

“The number of Pepe generations looked quite amusing, and it was really cool to see GPT actually bringing real creativity to the data. It felt as if it was developing its own mind,” CroissantEth told Decrypt.

The developer noted that other token parameters, such as the emission volume, can be set manually or left to ChatGPT’s discretion. This is also possible for more complex configurations.
After creating the name, the chatbot passes it and its description to another AI tool — DALL-E, which creates a corresponding image for the asset on this basis.
The CroissantEth solution is designed so ownership of the generated ChatGPT contracts can be revoked immediately. All created tokens are added to Uniswap liquidity together with 2 ETH.
The first publicly launched token, automatically launched via the chat bot, was AstroPepeX (APX). Uniswap trading volume in the first day surpassed $14 million, with $9.1 million in the last 24 hours (DEX Screener).
CroissantEth told Decrypt that his project was largely inspired by meme coin TURBO. In May, the digital artist Rett Mankaynd launched the coin with the help of ChatGPT; its market capitalisation exceeded $50 million. However most elements of token creation such as naming or revoking ownership were not automated.
According to the programmer, his aim was to minimise human intervention.

“I read the thread about TURBO and saw that it performs this process manually, and, being a natural-born developer, started studying how to automate it,” he said.
\n
CroissantEth plans to publish a user interface for his code, enabling users without specific technical skills to launch Ethereum tokens via ChatGPT.
He noted that at least 20 deployments using his script have been reported. Some developers have directly told CroissantEth of successful use of the solution.

“I expect that after the creation of a user interface this number will rise significantly,” the programmer concluded.

OpenAI opened access to the ChatGPT chatbot via API in March.
