Chiliz, owner of the Socios platform, invested $100m in NFTs and FC Barcelona’s metaverse.

It acquired 24.5% of Barça Studios, the Spanish football giant’s digital-content arm.

According to Socios representatives, the deal is aimed at developing Web3-ecosystem, including new products and features.

In 2020, Barcelona decided to issue fan tokens.

In March 2022, the club announced plans to create its own cryptocurrency.

In the same month, Chiliz launched the Chiliz Chain 2.0 testnet, developed in collaboration with the Ankr project.
