Chinese mining giant Ebang to launch a cryptocurrency exchange in Australia

A subsidiary of the mining-equipment maker Ebang in Australia has obtained an AUSTRAC license to operate a digital-asset exchange.

Ebonex Australia received authorization on December 3, 2021. The chairman of the board and CEO of parent Ebang International Holdings, Dong Hu, noted that the firm had managed to secure office space and assemble a team.

The senior executive pledged to launch the platform in the near future. Ebang has chosen Australia as a major financial centre with significant influence on the global market.

The launch of the cryptocurrency exchange will allow the mining-equipment maker to become a diversified and vertically integrated blockchain company, according to the press release.

In April 2021, Ebang launched an institutional-investor-focused cryptocurrency exchange, Ebonex.io.
