Cloudflare Outage Disrupts Multiple Crypto Services

Cloudflare outage on November 18 disrupted many websites and crypto services.

On November 18, internet infrastructure provider Cloudflare experienced significant technical difficulties, causing disruptions to numerous websites and applications.

The incident resulted in numerous “500 errors,” as well as disruptions in the frontend, API, and Cloudflare’s control panels.

“[The company] is aware of the issue affecting many customers and is investigating it,” stated the project’s status page.

Among the major affected platforms were the social network X, the OpenAI website, music service Spotify, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Uber, the video game League of Legends, and others.

The issues also impacted the crypto sector, including the Coinbase exchange, L2 network Base, and online broker Robinhood. Trading platform BitMEX reported the start of an investigation related to Cloudflare.

Crypto wallet Ledger encountered issues with several of its services. 

Analysts from the company are also monitoring blockchain disruptions. According to their data, the issues affected coins such as EGLD, ADA, ICX, FIL, KAS, OSMO, STX, MINA, ICP. Additionally, errors are being recorded in the Toncoin network.

In the wake of the incident, shares of Cloudflare Inc (NET) fell by 3.9% to $194.

Back in October, a major AWS outage led to the temporary shutdown of dozens of online platforms. The issues affected Snapchat, Reddit, Hulu, gaming services, and crypto exchanges.
