Court orders miners to pay 22.8 million rubles to Rosseti Center Lipetskenergo branch

Lipetsk’s Pravoberezhny District Court upheld the claim of the Rosseti Center Lipetskenergo branch for compensation of damage amounting to 22.8 million rubles caused by the operation of a mining farm.

In Lipetsk Oblast, an illegal mining farm was discovered as early as September. Law enforcement officers then seized 115 devices for cryptocurrency mining, illegally connected to a power source.

The volume of illegal electricity consumption amounted to more than 3.3 million kWh.

Under the court ruling, the owners of the mining farm will reimburse the full amount of the stolen electricity in monetary terms.

Earlier, Energo-Pro Georgia uncovered an illegal mining farm on the grounds of a hotel in the Georgian village of Mestia. The equipment consumed electricity equal to the consumption of four-to-five villages.
