Crocs weighs foray into the NFT market

Footwear maker Crocs has filed an application to register a trademark in the non-fungible token (NFT) segment.

“The trademark is intended to cover categories of downloadable digital media, namely digital assets, digital collectibles, digital tokens and NFTs,” the document states.

The application is filed on the basis of ‘intent to use,’ indicating the brand’s plans to use the mark commercially.

The registration also covers downloadable software for creating, managing, storing, sending, receiving, exchanging, verifying and selling NFTs.

In December 2021, Adidas earned $23.5 million from selling non-fungible tokens in collaboration with the projects Bored Ape Yacht Club, GMoney and PunksComic.

Earlier Nike acquired the NFT studio RTFKT, which specializes in creating collectible items for the metaverses.
