Dookey Dash winner nets $1.63m from sale of top prize

Dookey Dash winner from Yuga Labs Kyle ‘Mongraal’ Jackson sold the NFT prize for 1000 ETH (~$1.63m). The buyer was billionaire Adam Weitsman.

Weitsmanis the owner of Upstate Shredding — Weitsman Recycling, a scrap-metal recycling company based in Owego, New York, and a cryptocurrency advocate.

Jackson is known as a professional in the esports world, primarily in Fortnite and a Twitch streamer.

Mongraal listed the NFT for sale at 2222 ETH (~$3.6m).

The sole bid came from United Planets DAO at 690 ETH (~$1.1m). The token holder offered to double this bid to obtain consent.

Jackson thanked Yuga Labs ‘for an incredible competition’ and said he looks forward to competing in future events.

The company will receive 5% of the deal as a royalty — 50 ETH (~$81,500).

Announcing the game in January, Yuga Labs promised to reward the most active participants with “mysterious energy sources”, the nature of which was not disclosed. Players were to accumulate points over three weeks, ending February 8.

In Dookey Dash, players fly through a sewer tunnel, dodging obstacles and collecting bonuses.

Co-founderWylie Aronoff hinted that Dookey Dash is part of Yuga Labs’ broader plans to refine the experience the Otherside metaverse. The platform will allow players to own land and turn NFTs into playable characters.

In December, Yuga Labs appointed Activision Blizzard’s chief executive, Daniel Alegre.
