In Angarsk, a pharmacy employee sought to profit from mining and handed over more than 300,000 rubles to scammers. The local police reported this.

According to investigators, a 32-year-old resident of Angarsk saw an online advertisement for cryptocurrency mining equipment. Contacting the seller via Telegram, she arranged to buy five devices with a total value of 339,000 rubles and transferred the full amount to the provided bank card.

Later, while trying to clarify the shipping details, the Angarsk woman found the store’s page in the messaging app blocked.

A criminal case has been opened into the fraud; the suspects face up to six years’ imprisonment and fines of up to 80,000 rubles.

In October, a Lipetsk resident handed over more than 3 million rubles to cryptocurrency scammers.
