FIFA to Launch Its Own EVM-Compatible Blockchain

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced the launch of its own blockchain, compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

The network will replace Algorand and Polygon as the platform for FIFA Collect, the association’s official NFT collection.

The migration will commence no earlier than May 20. According to FIFA, transitioning to its own blockchain platform will simplify integration with EVM wallets like MetaMask, enable new features, and “lay the foundation for innovation.”

Users are not required to take any action. FIFA promises to disclose details of the transfer at a later date.

Back in March, FIFA President Gianni Infantino suggested the development of a token to engage with the global fan base.
