The cryptocurrency exchange FTX announced a staged rollout of the Visa debit card in more than 40 countries across Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Residents of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries of the Americas are expected to receive FTX cards first, with Europe following by the end of the year, and then Asia.
The implementation partner was Evolve Bank & Trust.
The firm opened a waitlist.
The program started in January 2022 in the United States.
FTX Visa users will be able to pay securely worldwide using their exchange balances in digital currencies, 24/7, 365 days a year, at 80 million points of sale.
Assets will be automatically converted into the required fiat amount at the moment of payment.
The exchange said it would not charge transaction fees, but warned of possible third-party charges.
In The Block they noted a lack of clarity regarding potential rewards on card transactions, as implemented by Coinbase.
Visa had previously approved launching such a payment solution with several crypto companies, including Binance, Bakkt, BlockFi, CryptoSpend, Ledger and bitcoinblack.
