
Gemini becomes Ireland’s first licensed digital-asset service provider
The cryptocurrency exchange Gemini has received approval from the Central Bank of Ireland to operate as a provider of digital-asset services.

Users will have access to trading and custody of more than 100 cryptocurrencies, and will be able to deposit funds into accounts in euros and British pounds.
Gemini opened an office in Dublin in 2021. A year earlier the platform applied for a licence to operate as an electronic money issuer. The company авторизовали in this capacity in March 2022.

Earlier in July, it emerged that the platform was cutting staff in a second round of layoffs. In total, Gemini’s headcount was reduced by 17%.
Earlier this year the company acquired the trading-technology provider Omniex and absorbed the cryptocurrency portfolio-management platform BITRIA.
