Google Integrates Generative AI into Search Engine

Google has adapted its new artificial intelligence model, Gemini, for integration into its search system.

“The solution combines the advanced capabilities of Gemini, including multi-step reasoning, planning, and multimodality, with our best-in-class search systems,” the announcement stated.

One of the main features of the new technology is reviews. The neural network gathers information based on user queries and summarizes it in a response. Soon, users will be able to customize AI reviews, simplifying or complicating the results as desired.

Currently, the “smart search” option is available only in English in the United States. Google has promised to expand to other countries later.

Thanks to the multi-step reasoning capabilities of the Gemini model, reviews can tackle increasingly complex tasks without breaking the process into multiple queries. For instance, the neural network can be asked to “find the best yoga or Pilates studios in Boston and show detailed information about their offerings and travel time from Beacon Hill.”

In addition to finding the correct answer or information to a complex question, the AI will also be able to plan schedules.

“Enter something like ‘create a three-day meal plan for a group that is easy to prepare’ into the search, and you’ll get a starting point with a wide range of recipes from across the internet,” Google noted.

In the realm of management, Gemini is quite flexible and can adapt to any changes in a user’s schedule, offering alternative options.

Google has also improved the search results page. Primarily, the artificial intelligence groups headlines and web pages that are most relevant.

The corporation has also added the capability for visual search using video:

“Perhaps you bought a record player at a thrift store, but it doesn’t work, and the needle drifts. Video search will save you time and spare you the trouble of finding the right words to describe this issue. You’ll receive an AI overview with troubleshooting instructions.”

In April, Google announced Gemini Code Assist—an AI tool to aid in coding.

Back in February, the corporation introduced the open AI model Gemma.
