Illegal mining farm found in the building of an abandoned Kuzbass school

Specialists from Rosseti Siberia, together with law enforcement authorities discovered and halted the activity of a mining farm that illegally drew power in the Blagodatny settlement of the Kemerovo Municipal District.

The farm was located in an abandoned school building. In the basement, police seized about 140 cryptocurrency mining devices. The total value of the equipment was estimated at around 10 million rubles.

The volume of illegally consumed electricity amounted to 298 thousand kWh, with losses estimated at almost 1.7 million rubles.

The owner of the farm must compensate the company for losses and pay a fine. He also faces criminal liability for electricity theft.

In June, specialists from Kuzbassenergo – RES discovered mining equipment in Blagodatny that was illegally connected to the power grid on the grounds of a livestock farm.

Earlier in July, specialists from Rosseti, together with law enforcement in Nizhny Novgorod, halted the operation of six electricity-stealing mining farms.
