“Now you have a single point of access to multiple games and marketplaces, as well as a secure place to store your assets, personal data and achievements,” the company explained.
Initially, the Immutable Passport infrastructure is integrated into five applications: Gods Unchained, Blocklete Golf, Bleacher Report, Watch2Earn, TokenTrove and AtomicHub. According to the press release, collectively they provide access to a user base of more than 500,000 people.
The studio’s president and co-founder Robbie Ferguson said that Passport eliminates one of the main barriers to Web3 gaming adoption — the cumbersome and time-consuming registration process.
The company regards the solution as non-custodial, since it does not store users’ private keys and does not participate in signing transactions.
“The Passport dashboard gives gamers the ability to discover new games, store and add funds, link external wallets and manage all in-game items within a single familiar interface,” the company said.
Immutable announced the development of Passport in February. In the same month, news emerged of a second wave of layoffs at the company.
In March, the studio entered into a partnership with the project Polygon to accelerate the development and deployment of Web3 games.
