In Moscow, a colleague of an investigator caught taking a bitcoin bribe is arrested

The Basmanny Court of Moscow, as part of a criminal case into the receipt by former investigator Marat Tambiev of a bribe from members of the hacker group Infraud Organization, has arrested his former subordinate Kristina Lyakhovenko. According to ТАСС.

Before her arrest, Lyakhovenko held the post of senior investigator in the investigative department for the Tverskoy district of the Moscow main directorate of the Investigative Committee.

She was charged with taking a bribe, exceeding her official powers, and falsifying evidence.

According to investigators, Lyakhovenko “took no measures to confiscate cryptocurrency from the defendants in one of the criminal cases”.

The former investigator will be held in custody until November 10.

Marat Tambiev is accused of taking a bribe from the Infraud Organization hackers for not freezing their assets.

According to media reports, at the time of the arrest the cybercriminals provided access to ten cryptocurrency wallets, into which in December 2021 proceeds from their activities amounting to 2,064 BTC were deposited. Subsequently, all assets were withdrawn from the wallets.

According to the testimony of one of the group’s members, Mark Bergman, the real size of the bribe, requested by Tambiev, amounted to 2718.6 BTC. However, in the indictment presented to the investigator only 1032.1 BTC are specified. Later, exactly this amount of coins the court seized from Tambiev.

Earlier, the lawyers pointed to multiple discrepancies in the handwriting examination of notes found on the defendant’s computer.
