
In Volgograd, sauna owner ordered to pay 4.5 million rubles for cryptocurrency mining
The Traktorozavodsky District Court in Volgograd ordered the sauna owner to pay about 4.5 million rubles for electricity consumed without metering to mine cryptocurrency.
As local media report, employees of reported that Gorenergosbyt detected an unauthorized connection to the metering device in a separate building of the bathhouse. The defendant argued that he did not lay the cable or use it.
According to him, he rents out the premises. The owner refused to grant access to the basement, after which representatives of the local energy-supply company called the police. In the premises they found mining equipment.
Following the inspection, an act documenting unmetered electricity consumption was drawn up.
The court held that the mining operation was organized by the owner, not the lessee.
Earlier in Khabarovsk, the owner of 220 ASIC miners paid damages of 2.75 million rubles.
