The Olympic heritage collection will span dozens of events: from the 1896 Athens Summer Games to the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.
NFT pins will go on sale on June 17. The nWay website will open access to token sets priced from $9 to $499 depending on rarity.
In 2021, a P2P platform will be launched where collectors can trade and exchange NFTs. For the 2022 Winter Games in Paris, nWay will release a new video game in which players can obtain free digital pins.
“Olympic pins were originally conceived as a way to identify athletes, judges and officials, but after 125 years they have become a tradition of the Olympic Games,” said Timo Lamme, Managing Director of IOC Television and Marketing Services.
He also called the NFT collection announcement \”a true evolution of this tradition.\” According to Lamme, in the past everyone, \”from athletes to event staff, journalists and spectators,\” collected pins and traded them at the Olympic Village and beyond.
Earlier the USA’s Professional Football League announced an NFT collection.
Earlier, Kyiv’s Dynamo announced the sale of match tickets as non-fungible tokens.
Topps, the collectible manufacturer, released the first official MLB trading card series as NFTs.
