The blockchain technology underpinning Bitcoin will define Twitter’s future, said Twitter chief Jack Dorsey at the Oslo Freedom Forum 2020 online conference.
“Blockchain and Bitcoin will define the future — a world where content exists forever. The essence of Bitcoin is to create a trusted system in a distrustful environment, which is the Internet,” he said.
Blue Sky, his recently formed nonprofit, is recruiting architects, engineers and designers to build a public blockchain platform and open protocol for Twitter, Dorsey added.
The ultimate aim is for Twitter to become its client, the head of the social network said.
Security is not something you can perfect; it’s a constant race:
“The more keys we give people, the more secure we will be.”
Earlier, Dorsey said that Twitter would fund the development of a decentralized standard for social networks.
In September 2020 he stated that the Internet needs its own currency and Bitcoin is its best implementation.
