Jack Dorsey, founder and chief executive of Twitter, has launched his own full node of the first cryptocurrency network. He posted a screenshot of a computer screen bearing the phrase \”Working Bitcoin\”.

The screenshot shows the node syncing with the blockchain, which is about 325 GB in size. The process can take several weeks, and progress is currently a little over 2%.

When asked whether he had run the node on a dedicated Raspberry Pi single-board computer, the prominent Bitcoin advocate said he had chosen a new MacBook Pro M1.

As of writing, there are 7,533 full nodes of the leading cryptocurrency network worldwide, according to Bitnodes.

The founder of Twitter described the best implementation of online currencies, and his network as a benchmark for the Internet. Dorsey reaffirmed his aim for the decentralised future of the social network he leads.

Jack Dorsey’s payments company Square, via its cryptocurrency division awarded a grant to a designer of Bitcoin-wallets interfaces. Also the Twitter CEO, alongside Kraken, supported a new fund for developers of the first cryptocurrency.
