Kazakhstan is developing a blockchain-based service that will allow citizens to control how their personal data is used. This was stated by Ruslan Abdikalikov, head of the Information Security Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, according to Kazinform.

He drew attention to the problem of the lack of oversight over personal data protection, which, he said, a new system is being developed to address.

“The service will allow citizens to view actions on their data and to receive a notification when it is accessed,” Abdikalikov said.

The service is planned to be rolled out by year-end.

Abdikalikov also said that work is underway on rules for the collection and processing of personal data. They will define “the procedures and requirements for handling personal data from the collection stage to the destruction stage.”

Together with Japanese investors in Kazakhstan will launch a cryptocurrency exchange, as well as a number of blockchain deployment projects.
