Ledger and Trezor Unveil Next-Generation Hardware Wallets

Ledger and Trezor unveil next-gen hardware wallets: Nano Gen5 and Safe 7.

Hardware wallet manufacturers Ledger and Trezor have introduced their next-generation devices. Ledger announced the Nano Gen5, while Trezor unveiled the Safe 7 model.

At the Ledger Op3n event in Paris, the company also rebranded its Ledger Live app to Ledger Wallet and announced a business solution called Ledger Multisig.

The new tool features a touch-sensitive E Ink screen, Bluetooth and NFC support. It comes with a Ledger Recovery Key card for access recovery. The Ledger Wallet app now allows direct connections to dapps like 1inch.

“The Ledger Nano series is the most successful device for securing digital assets ever. Millions have been sold, and not one has been hacked,” stated Ledger CEO Pascal Gauthier.

What About the Competitor?

Trezor introduced a device with an aluminum body, a color touch screen with Gorilla Glass 3 and haptic feedback, as well as support for wireless charging and Bluetooth.

The main feature of the Trezor Safe 7 is the industry’s first fully auditable security chip, TROPIC01. It operates alongside a second chip in a dual-component architecture. The device is also prepared for future threats from quantum computers.

“While convenience pushes users towards custodial services and ETFs, we believe it is important to strengthen the idea of self-custody—full control without compromise. The Trezor Safe 7 is our answer,” stated Trezor CEO Matej Zak.

Back in June, Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet explained the discontinuation of support for the Nano S wallet due to limited memory.
