Forge, the technology arm of the French banking giant Societe Generale, selected the Ledger Vault platform to test the security protocol for a central bank digital currency (CBDC).

The Ledger team will develop and implement solutions to protect digital assets based on its own multi-signature custody technology.

Jean-Marc Stenger, CEO of Societe Generale Forge, emphasised that Ledger’s experience in digital-asset security was an important factor in its selection as a participant in the project.

According to the statement, Ledger will provide technology developed specifically for financial institutions that enables interaction with various blockchains and providers.

Forge reported that five different blockchains would be involved in CBDC experiments. The company did not specify which networks exactly. In September, it emerged that one of them is Tezos.

Earlier this spring, Societe Generale participated in CBDC trials for interbank payments led by the Bank of France.
