Litecoin Network Launches Ordinals NFT Project Fork

In the blockchain Litecoin there appeared an analogue of the Ordinals protocol, which allowed users to inscribe objects in the form of images, text, videos and in other formats. Cointelegraph reports.

Developer Anthony Guerrero admitted that for this “supremely simple” task, he needed a week. The incentive was a reward of 22 LTC (~$2,065). He posted the code on GitHub.

The specialist updated the Ordinals code to work with inputs from the Litecoin network. He accounted for differences between blockchains, such as the supply cap and variations in block generation times.

The first object he inscribed thanks to porting the protocol was the white paper MimbleWimble. In May, developers activated this update in the Litecoin network.

Guerrero explained that the launch of the mechanism for creating similar NFT “inscriptions” in Litecoin became possible thanks to the adaptation of updates Taproot and SegWit to the Bitcoin network.
