Litecoin activates MimbleWimble upgrade on mainnet
On Friday, May 20, at around 06:30 (Kyiv/MSK) the MimbleWimble Extension Block (MWEB) upgrade will go live on the Litecoin mainnet. This was announced by the project’s creator, Charlie Lee.
MWEB is currently estimated to activate on 5/19 8:30pm PT (5/20 3:30am UTC). We’re thinking of doing a livestream event to celebrate activation. Stay tuned for more details soon.
In the meantime, help us reach out to pools and miners. There are still some that have not upgraded!

MimbleWimble is a protocol with scalable capabilities and enhanced privacy. It uses several technologies, including confidential transactions and CoinJoin, which hides the inputs and outputs of senders and recipients, and also aggregates multiple transactions into one.
Earlier in 2022, Litecoin developers stated readiness for MWEB. In March they deployed on the testnet a new version of the Litecoin Core 0.21.2 client, which includes MWEB and Taproot.
