
Media reports that Amazon will start accepting Bitcoin; the company denies.
The tech giant Amazon plans to add support for payments in Bitcoin by the end of 2021, City A.M. reports citing an insider.
In Amazon denied the rumours outlined in City A.M.’s publication. Bloomberg reporter Caroline Hyde said so.
The company said it would explore cryptocurrencies.
According to him, Bitcoin is the first step in the company’s cryptocurrency ambitions. Amazon’s leadership is allegedly planning to add other well-known digital assets.
The source claims that the initiative “comes from the very top, from Jeff Bezos” and the project is “almost ready to launch”. The company, according to him, may also issue its own token.
A Twitter user by the handle CryptoCobain said that he started the rumor about Amazon adding Bitcoin payments.

“Just convinced a dumb crypto journalist that I am an Amazon insider,” wrote CryptoCobain.
Amazon’s press office did not respond to ForkLog’s request.
Analyst Alex Krüger questioned whether the publication had published accurate information.

In August 2019, Amazon posted a software developer vacancy on LinkedIn, which, among other tasks, was to involve “working on blockchain.” Later the company removed the mention of blockchain from the vacancy text due to media buzz.
In early 2021, the Amazon Digital and Emerging Payments announced a recruitment drive for developers and engineers for a new digital-currency payments product in Mexico.
Earlier, the cloud computing platform Amazon Web Services posted a blockchain specialist vacancy with experience in decentralized finance.
In July, the tech giant hired a product lead for digital currencies and blockchain to work in Payments Acceptance & Experience in Seattle, Washington.
