MetaMask Expands Security Alerts Across Multiple Networks

The MetaMask team, in collaboration with Blockaid, has made security alerts available by default across various networks.

This feature aims to proactively prevent malicious transactions and protect users from scams, phishing, and hacking attacks.

Company representatives expect that security alerts will help safeguard users’ crypto assets from theft.

“With this feature, you’ll know if a transaction is suspicious before signing it. Smart, secure, and seamless — that’s how we operate,” emphasized MetaMask representatives.

Alerts are available in the browser extension and mobile app. In addition to Ethereum, the supported networks include Linea, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Avalanche.

Developers have suggested that in 2024, security alerts could prevent asset thefts amounting to “hundreds of millions of dollars.”

The number of active MetaMask users grew by 50% from September to January, rising from 19 million to over 30 million. This figure is approaching the peak levels recorded during the previous bull market phase.

Back in October, the startup Blockaid, founded by former members of the Israeli army’s cyber intelligence unit, closed a Series A funding round of $33 million.

The solutions developed by the firm are also used by platforms such as OpenSea, Zerion, and Rainbow.
