Mike Novogratz and Fanatics to launch NFT venture Candy Digital

Galaxy Digital founder Mike Novogratz, entrepreneur and author Gary Vaynerchuk, and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin announced the creation of Candy Digital. The company will promote sports-themed NFTs, The Block reports.

The first partner in creating non-fungible tokens will be the North American Major League Baseball (MLB).

On July 4, an NFT of baseball player Lou Gehrig’s farewell speech, “The Luckiest Man”, delivered 82 years ago, will be auctioned.

Candy Digital and MLB will pay homage to the famed athlete who ended his professional career after being diagnosed with ALS. He died two years later.

“In Candy Digital, we want to build a long-term sustainable business. What could symbolize longevity and success better than Lou Gehrig?”, — Kenny Gersh, MLB’s vice president of business development.

In May, the U.S. Major League Soccer (MLS) announced a collection of NFTs based on top matches from the biggest teams.

Earlier, the collectible maker Topps launched the first official series of Major League Baseball cards as non-fungible tokens.
