Miner installs mining rig in BMW sports car to ‘annoy gamers’

In the United States, resident Simon Bern created a miniature mining farm from six Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics cards and placed it in the trunk of a BMW i8 hybrid sports car. This, HardwareTimes reports.

According to Bern, he built this setup himself to annoy gamers.

The mining rig is equipped with an ASUS B250 Mining Expert motherboard and an EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 T2 power supply.

The BMW i8’s battery capacity is 3,500 W, and the mining setup draws 1,500 W. To prevent the rig from overheating, the trunk must remain open at all times.

The hybrid BMW i8, with a total output of 362 horsepower, can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. It is priced at around $147,500.

Simon Bern says this is a great way to earn money even while travelling.

The main income – $128,000 per year – for the miner comes from a farm of 78 graphics cards, which ForkLog previously reported.
