An airdrop for early users is expected to coincide with the launch. Coins will be distributed among 225,000 users who have passed the Sybil verification. The portal for claiming MON opened in mid-October.
The list of recipients includes active community members, high-volume traders on DEX platforms like Hyperliquid, long-term holders of certain NFT collections, contributors, and developers.
The Monad Foundation team and Category Labs employees are not participating in the distribution.
There is no official tokenomics for MON yet. However, perpetual pre-market contracts for the coin are already available on Hyperliquid. At the time of writing, the price stands at $0.05 with a daily trading volume of $4.3 million. Open interest has reached $10.6 million.
The project was launched in 2022 as a competitor to Solana and Ethereum. Through two funding rounds, it raised over $240 million.
The Monad team launched a public testnet in February 2025. Developers have claimed high network throughput of up to 10,000 TPS and block processing time of one second.
Back in July, the Monad Foundation acquired Portal Labs, the company behind the development of the infrastructure platform for stablecoins Portal.
