Access to Moscow’s blockchain-voting data will be open to all
The Moscow blockchain-voting observation service will be improved; it will be accessible and understandable to anyone wishing to follow the course of the elections. This, citing a statement by Artyom Kostyrko, head of the Department for Improving Territorial Administration and the Development of Smart Projects of the Moscow Government, сообщает ТАСС.
According to the official, after decrypting and publishing the results of remote electronic voting (DEG), observers will be able to independently verify the accuracy of the votes cast for each candidate.
“The toolkit will allow any citizen of the Russian Federation to become an electronic observer. We will refine the electronic ‘safe-pack’, developed by federal colleagues, so that one can not only store the transaction, but do so in any internet browser and for any user,” Kostyrko said.
He says that expanding the circle of observers by including ordinary citizens will be an additional guarantee of the fairness and transparency of the elections.
Earlier, in September 2021, two different blockchain systems were used in the State Duma elections. In Sevastopol, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Murmansk and Rostov regions, online voting ran on a platform developed by Rostelecom in collaboration with Waves Enterprise by order of the Central Election Commission, in Moscow — on a platform from the city’s Department of Information Technology.
Subsequently, the Central Election Commission allowed a transition to a common blockchain platform due to problems with voting in Moscow. In December, a bill on the unified rules for conducting DEG was submitted to the State Duma for all regions and for elections at all levels.
