Barnaul woman loses 371,000 rubles to cryptocurrency scammers

Barnaul authorities have opened a criminal case for fraud in a particularly large amount following a local resident’s complaint. She said that the perpetrators misappropriated 371,000 rubles spent by her on buying cryptocurrency.

According to the press service of the МВД, the victim downloaded a dedicated app through which she intended to purchase cryptocurrency. On the platform she found a seller to whom she transferred the money.

“However, immediately upon receipt of the money, the seller cancelled the so-called ‘order’ for the deal,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

The seller stopped replying, and the Barnaul resident did not receive the cryptocurrency.

Earlier in Kursk Oblast, a resident lost 1.1 million rubles on a fraudulent site allegedly involved in cryptocurrency trading.
