BestChange.ru crypto-exchange aggregator unblocked in Uzbekistan

The National Agency for Prospective Projects (NAPP) of Uzbekistan has restored access to the popular exchange-aggregator BestChange.ru. The Digital Rights Center (DRC) lawyers сообщили.

According to the regulator, the blockage of the resource was issued on the basis of a presidential decree from 2018. According to the document, from 1 January 2023, citizens and resident companies of the country will be able to buy, sell and exchange crypto assets only through local providers. Until then, trading on foreign platforms is also prohibited.

“After a series of appeals, the leadership of NAPP listened to arguments that the monitoring resource’s activity falls under an exception and its operation should not be restricted,” the DRC lawyers said.

On October 21, a decision was made to remove two cryptocurrency exchange platforms from the register of prohibited resources, including the BestChange.ru service.

In August, the Uzbek regulator restricted access to unlicensed cryptocurrency exchanges and brokers. Authorities required services to register as providers of services for operating in the country.
