Binance obtains crypto-asset service provider licence from Cyprus regulator
Binance cryptocurrency exchange has received registration from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) as a crypto-asset service provider.
The company has already worked with clients from this country.
The licence will enable it to offer, among other things, spot, custody and staking services in line with CySEC requirements.
In 2022, the company obtained approvals from Bahrain, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Dubai and the free financial zone Abu Dhabi.
The platform also announced the launch of a regulated exchange in Thailand and said it would open a client service centre in Turkey.
Bloomberg reports that Binance has applied for a license in Japan, four years after abandoning plans to open a headquarters in the country.
Earlier the exchange had licences from regulators Spain, France and Italy.
In November 2021, its CEO Changpeng Zhao said he aimed to obtain authorisation from the British FCA.
