Bitmain’s S21 Miner Named ‘Breakthrough of the Year’ by Bitdeer

Bitdeer hosted its inaugural Mining Awards 2023, recognizing the leading figures in the cryptocurrency mining industry over the past year.

The Antminer S21 by Bitmain won the ‘Technological Breakthrough of the Year’ award. Released last autumn, the devices boasted a hash rate of 200 T with an energy efficiency ratio of 17.5 J/TH. The later S21hyd model achieved 335 T and 16 J/TH.

“The S21 series was awarded by Bitdeer for its exceptional energy efficiency in current conditions,” the company highlighted.

Avalon was named the ‘Most Economical Miner of the Year’ with its A1466 and 150T devices averaging $8.8 per 1 T.

Foundry was recognized as the ‘Mining Pool of the Year’, controlling 28.1% of the global hash rate.

NiceHash received the title of ‘Best Cloud Hashrate Platform’. According to Bitdeer, the service was awarded “not only as an open marketplace for hash rate trading but also for its commitment to innovations in mining security and protection.”

Whatsminer won the ‘Mining Deal of the Year’ for its $380 million agreement with Phoenix Group in December to advance eco-friendly bitcoin mining.

Other awards included:

• ‘Mining Media of the Year’ — Bitcoin Magazine;
• ‘Mobile Mining Container of the Year’ — Minerbase D40/D40S with enhanced cooling system;
• ‘Mining Centre of the Year’ — Bitdeer and its facility in Bhutan;
• ‘Mining Software of the Year’ — MinerPlus;
• ‘News of the Year’ — Bitdeer’s Nasdaq listing.

In January, the American cryptocurrency mining company GRIID went public through a reverse merger with a SPAC. Shares under the ticker GRDI began trading on Nasdaq.

Earlier, the American blockchain hosting provider Core Scientific also went public through a similar process.
