China’s national blockchain platform to integrate the DAML smart-contract language

China’s national blockchain platform to integrate the DAML smart-contract language

China’s Infrastructure Blockchain Platform (BSN) will add support for the DAML smart-contract language from American company Digital Asset.

According to a statement, DAML will become the ‘exclusive standard’ for developing decentralized applications (DApps) on the BSN.

The CEO of Red Date Technology, one of the BSN’s founders, Yifan He noted that today ‘every blockchain protocol has its own built-in smart-contract language.’ This complicates developers’ work, who must rewrite their applications if they want to deploy them on another network, he added.

‘By choosing DAML as the exclusive smart-contract language of BSN itself, our developers will be able to use one unifying language for every blockchain in a seamless and functional way,’ stressed the head of Red Date.

BSN, supported by China’s State Information Center (SIC), was initially designed to help individuals and small businesses adopt blockchain. There are Chinese and global versions of the platform. The Chinese version supports only enterprise blockchains, originally Hyperledger Fabric and the Chinese FISCO BCOS. The global version is additionally integrated with many public networks, including Ethereum, EOS, Tezos, Nervos, NEO and IRISnet.

Founding members of BSN are SIC, China Mobile, China UnionPay, and Red Date Technology. The network already counts 130 nodes across China.

In August, Yifan He stated plans to integrate stablecoin support into the BSN in 2021.
