ConsenSys and Protocol Labs partner to integrate Ethereum with Filecoin
The Ethereum studio ConsenSys announced a partnership with Protocol Labs, the team behind the decentralized data storage platform Filecoin.
The result will be the integration of the new project with ConsenSys products Infura and MetaMask.
With new and upcoming features from @infura_io , @ConsenSysCodefi , @metamask_io, miners, developers, and users of the @Filecoin network can now access essential #Ethereum tools and access the #DeFi ecosystem. https://t.co/m2U95vyMwo

ConsenSys noted that by storing data in Filecoin, Ethereum applications will become “fully decentralised”.
“We aim to extend IPFS functionality and introduce new tools that will allow developers and consumers to easily use Filecoin and IPFS to build their applications and meet data-storage needs,” said Joseph Lubin, the head of the studio.
The Codefi Activate platform for launching new blockchains introduced the Filecoin Storage tool to monitor storage prices. A bridge was also released that will enable transferring the native Filecoin (FIL) token to ERC-20.
Earlier, on October 15 at block 148,888 the launch of the Filecoin mainnet took place. FIL listings were announced by cryptocurrency exchanges Huobi, OKEx and Binance.
On October 17, reports surfaced of a miners’ strike over the project’s economic model. Protocol Labs CEO Juan Benet called their claim absurd.
