Dodgers to release MLB World Series NFT

Candy Digital announced the release of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for the Los Angeles Dodgers to mark the World Series—the decisive games of MLB’s season.

The NFT auction of a single World Series ring with a physical ring will run from July 12 to 15. Proceeds will go to the club’s charity.

The token includes the opportunity to throw the ceremonial first pitch during a Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and tickets to a game.

Dodgers will also issue an unlimited number of NFTs featuring the World Series 2020 animated logo at $20.20.

According to Decrypt, the first official Candy Digital NFT in partnership with MLB sold for $70,444 to Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss.

In April 2021, the collectibles maker Topps released the first MLB NFT trading cards.

Earlier, cryptocurrency exchange FTX signed a five-year deal with MLB.
