Elon Musk criticises Twitter for NFT integration. According to the founder of Tesla, the company is wasting engineering resources that could be directed at fighting fraud and spam.
Twitter is spending engineering resources on this bs while crypto scammers are throwing a spambot block party in every thread!?

“This is irritating. Twitter is wasting engineering resources on this nonsense while cryptocurrency scammers are throwing spam-bot parties in virtually every thread,” Musk wrote.
On Thursday the social network introduced an option, allowing users to add NFTs as profile avatars. Access was opened to iOS device users among subscribers of the premium Twitter Blue service.

Fraudsters frequently use Musk’s name in crypto-scam schemes. For example, in May 2021, attackers duped users out of more than $100,000. Messages from fake accounts still appear under nearly all of the founder’s tweets.
In 2020, Twitter accounts of Musk, Bill Gates and other celebrities were subjected to a large-scale attack. The hacker Graham Clark was later sentenced to three years in prison with a subsequent probation period.
Musk has long been a proponent of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. However his optimism does not extend to the metaverse concept that has gained prominence in recent months. The billionaire described as “great wisdom” the words of Sony founder Ken Kutaragi, who described virtual worlds and VR headsets as “annoying” and “meaningless.”
