Emily Ratajkowski sells NFT at Christie’s auction for $175,000

Emily Ratajkowski, American model and actress, sold the non-fungible token (NFT) Buying Myself Back: A Model for Redistribution at Christie’s auction for $175,000.

The NFT’s title references Ratajkowski’s article in The Cut, the New York Magazine blog, dated September 15, 2020. In the piece the model criticized artist Richard Prince for using her photograph in his exhibition.

On April 26, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey endorsed the idea of Ratajkowski releasing an NFT.

Ratajkowski also joined the Bitcoin supporters’ flash mob waiting for the price of the first cryptocurrency to reach $100,000. She added ‘laser eyes’ to her photo.

Earlier, Floyd Mayweather announced the release of the NFT collection ahead of the bout against blogger Logan Paul.

The meme heroine “Disaster Girl” Zoe Roth sold the famous photo as an NFT for 180 ETH (around $700,000 at the time of writing)

Nine CryptoPunks NFTs were sold at Christie’s auction for almost $17 million.
