William Delbert Gann (1878–1955). American trader. Known for developing “Gann lines” and trying to fuse astrology with technical analysis. He forecast the crash of 1929. Used astrological cycles to predict equity and commodity markets.

Louis de Wohl (1904–1961). German writer. As an astrologer he advised European royal families and British intelligence. Long before the Second World War he described in detail Hitler’s fall and Europe’s post‑war recovery. His method, based on analysing the “returns” of Jupiter and Saturn, is applied to economic cycles.

Evelyn De Morgan (1855–1919). Artist and esotericist. She foresaw an “age of monetary instability” that coincided with the First World War. Her work was used to analyse shifts of power and finance in the industrial era.

Edgar Cayce (1877–1945). American mystic and medium. From planetary positions he predicted the Great Depression and America’s subsequent recovery. Until his death he insisted that “in the future gold will be replaced by ether and light”.

Having “studied” the natal chart, they “answered” crypto’s most popular questions, using ChatGPT’s interface instead of a Ouija board.

ForkLog (FL): Will bitcoin reach $100,000 or $1m?

William Delbert Gann: Bitcoin will clear $100,000 under a favourable alignment (for instance, with Pluto in Aquarius). As for $1m, that is still a long way off — the stars say it is not a matter of the next few years.

FL: When should we expect the next bull run?

Louis de Wohl: The next bull trend is likely when Jupiter enters a fire sign. I reckon around 2027 the market will start to surge again. But the stars show, first, you should not wait to invest (bitcoin has sufficiently strong “innate” qualities), and second, you should not be greedy: this period will be historically unstable.

FL: Will Ethereum become more valuable than bitcoin?

Louis de Wohl: During a powerful rally ether may briefly overtake bitcoin by market capitalisation. But the stars do not let it hold the crown — BTC will quickly return to the top.

FL: Will blockchain technologies displace traditional banks?

FL: Finally: which question went unasked, though it should have been?

Evelyn De Morgan: It would have been worth asking whether bitcoin is the beginning of a new religion. Because the answer is “yes”.

After dismissing the spirits and sprinkling the keyboard with calendula tincture, I turned to data. My question was simple: do crypto prices depend on the phases of the Moon? And if so, can one trade by a lunar calendar — buy on the waxing Moon, sell on the waning one, and on the full Moon flash a cold wallet at the sky?

Armed with a historical price dataset and a couple of spells for Excel, I returned to ChatGPT — a 24/7 channel to the beyond. The goal: compile a lunar trading calendar to, quite literally, run a “moon‑to‑moon” strategy.

The dataset description says it contains price histories of 23 of the most influential cryptocurrencies from 2013 to mid‑2021 — roughly 100 lunar cycles. The chatbot located a lunar‑phase calendar on its own. For broader analysis I counted the day before and the day after each phase change, including them in the price analytics.

Overall conclusion

The analytics suggest that on a waxing Moon markets more often perk up, and on a waning Moon they exhale — confirming an earlier study by Binance user DBF_CONFIDENCE. Naturally, it is not that simple, and it does not apply to all coins equally. For example, in our sample bitcoin rose in about ~55% of cases around new moons versus ~40% around full moons. Ethereum showed similar numbers (~52% versus ~38%). For some altcoins the effect was more pronounced.

Those that were especially “lunar‑sensitive” included TRON — up in ~57% of cases; Aave and EOS also tended to cheer up under a young Moon. Sceptics will say: “So what, 50/50 plus a margin of error.” But, for instance, Polkadot clearly hews to the lunar cycle: around new moons it printed “green” roughly 70% of the time. Coincidence? May 2025

• May 4 — First quarter: the market revives after April’s correction. Growth is likely — consider opening longs on top alts (ETH, DOT, LTC).
• May 12 — Full Moon: sharp downward moves are possible. Selling part of the portfolio (especially speculative tokens) will spare you lunar tides and ebbs.
• May 20 — Last quarter: a bearish mood. Add at most some stablecoins; dial back active trading.
• May 26 — New Moon: the start of a new turn — time to buy the dip. Look at Binance Coin, Cardano, Solana — statistically they find it a touch easier to rise under a waxing Moon.

I set aside the crystal ball, snuffed out the candles and, just in case, made a wish — bitcoin at $1m. That’s all. In case Satoshi was somewhere nearby, I saluted with two fingers to the temple. Then I exhaled, finished my cold calendula tea and opened the market analytics.

As much as one might wish to live in a world where a retrograde Mercury explains a dump and a waxing crescent guarantees a pump, reality is a shade more complicated. Yes, lunar phases revealed intriguing regularities. Yes, some coins are surprisingly sensitive to celestial cycles. But let’s be honest: the Moon is the market’s poetry, not its driving force.

And you certainly should not entrust your portfolio’s fate to those who do not hold their own hardware wallet and do not know what a stop‑loss is. Spirits are subtle and all‑knowing, but they are not the ones who rage‑tweet into a bear market. The Moon is a grand thing, but it has still never passed KYC.

So yes — the stars can be an interesting tool. But filter them through math, analysis and, above all, common sense.
