FIDE releases collection of 9,000 NFTs on the Everscale blockchain
The International Chess Federation (FIDE) released a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Everscale blockchain (former Free TON).
The event is timed to the world chess championship, which will take place on 26 November in Dubai under FIDE’s auspices. Tokens can be purchased on the ChessNFT site.
The collection consists of 9,000 digital items in token form: 8,400 common, 480 rare, and 120 unique. The sale of one NFT costs $100 and can be paid for with Everscale tokens, Ethereum, or by card. The platform also plans to sell NFT bundles featuring memorable moments from matches of the current championship.
The minted token is instantly transferred to the owner’s address. Secondary trading of items from the FIDE collection will take place on the marketplace that will launch on the ChessNFT site. In addition, trading of ‘chess’ tokens will take place on the NFT marketplace Grand Bazar, operating on the Everscale blockchain.
“With the help of NFTs, we can not only digitize the works of the greatest masters but also immortalize them through exclusive ownership rights and the value of collecting,” said FIDE’s marketing director Marco Verdoya.
The plan to launch ChessNFT was known in early November. At that time, federation president Arkady Dvorkovich noted that FIDE’s entry into the NFT market would “bring a new experience and opportunities for chess players around the world.”
The Everscale blockchain was chosen as the basis for the platform for its “ability to process transactions at a global level”.
A gallery based in Saint Petersburg launched its own NFT platform on the Everscale blockchain.
