The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) will launch its own blockchain based on the Avalanche network.
The new platform will be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). The organization will transfer the FIFA Collect NFT collection from Algorand and Polygon.
The decision to switch to a new network is driven by the need to enhance the speed, scalability, and security of the ecosystem, stated FIFA Collect CEO Francesco Abbate.
According to him, integration with Avalanche will simplify the connection of popular crypto wallets and lay the foundation for the further development of FIFA’s digital assets.
Support for Algorand and Polygon for the NFT collection will cease after the migration is complete. The exact timing of the blockchain launch has not been disclosed.
In April, FIFA first announced the launch of its own blockchain, compatible with EVM.
In March, the federation’s president, Gianni Infantino, suggested the development of a token to engage with the global fan base.
