EthereumMax (EMAX) appeared about a month ago and trades on decentralised cryptocurrency exchanges Uniswap and 1inch. At the time of writing, the altcoin ranked 2,575th on CoinMarketCap with a 24-hour trading volume of $34.4 million.

EthereumMax was also used to sell tickets for the bout between Mayweather and Paul. Two front-row seats were sold exclusively for the altcoin.

For purchases exceeding $5,000 using EMAX, spectators received Mayweather’s boxing gloves with his autograph. Among all EthereumMax purchasers, tickets to the official after-party were raffled.

The altcoin advertising also appeared in Times Square in New York.

How cool is this?! An early holder in eMax donated a billboard in Times Square to eMax because they did so well with the token, and this was their way of showing their appreciation and saying thanks. WOW what a ‘token’ of appreciation! Our community is second to none, THANK YOU! pic.twitter.com/dpHkceNSiK

The bout at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami ended after the scheduled eight rounds without a decision from the judges. It was an exhibition bout, where the only route to victory was a knockout.

In 2017, Mayweather promoted the initial coin offering (ICO) of the Stox predictive-market analytics project. Two years later, an investor accused the blockchain platform and its founder Moshe Hogeg of misusing more than $4.6 million.

In 2018, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission fined Mayweather $614 000 for promoting the Centra Tech ICO. The boxer neither admitted nor denied the regulator’s allegations but agreed to disgorge the ill-gotten gains, the penalty and interest.

Prior to that, a Florida court ruled the project’s token to be a security. The founders of Centra Tech were accused of deceiving investors. In 2020, one of them received a year in prison.

Earlier in May, Mayweather announced the release of a collection of non-fungible tokens ahead of the bout against Paul. The collection included memorabilia, artworks and animation.
